Mike’s passion for investing started at a young age when tagging along with his Dad on weekly trips to the bank. “Saturday mornings were always bank days,” says Mike. “At first, I was just interested in the free donuts. But at 6 years old I opened my own savings account, and my Dad taught me about the impact of compounding interest. Interest rates were a little more attractive in those days, but I was forever hooked on the concept of saving money for the future.”
Prior to joining Detalus in September of 2021, Mike served as a Pricing Manager at Waste Management, Inc., where he was responsible for revenue growth and margin expansion for a $1.5B operation in the Midwest. Mike previously held positions with several banks, including Chase Bank and New Century Bank in Chicago, where he served as a financial advisor and licensed insurance agent.
Throughout his career and to this day, Mike’s motivation comes from earning people’s trust and developing transparent, client-focused solutions. “There can be a great deal of confusion when it comes to planning for one’s financial future,” says Mike. “Truly understanding a client’s needs and having a long-term relationship built on trust is the best way to solve for those problems.”
Mike lives in Webster Groves and enjoys spending time with his young family, playing golf, and hoping that one day his beloved Chicago Bears and Bulls will finally, albeit it very unlikely, win championships.
Mike is an Investment Adviser Representative. He earned an MBA in Finance from DePaul University in Chicago and a BA in Business Journalism from Miami University in Ohio.
Alex was born and raised in St. Charles, Missouri. He grew up spending his days in his Italian grandmothers’ kitchens and watching football with his father. He now lives with his wife Brooke in University City.
There are three things that have always interested Alex the most: numbers, food, and people. Having decided to leave food as his dearest hobby (cooking, eating, sharing...all of it), the obvious career path was to follow the numbers and the people, leading him to his career path at Detalus.
Alex first discovered the world of investments at the age of 14, and would spend hours after school screening stocks and calling companies in which he was particularly interested. He couldn’t help but become fascinated with future technology, specifically with respect to which industries would be running the economy 20, 30, 50 years in the future.
After spending his freshman year of college on the Lindenwood-Belleville football team, Alex came home to St. Charles to focus on his education and his finances. It was here that Alex was introduced to Lindenwood’s Personal Financial Planning Program. Alex graduated in December of 2016 with a bachelors degree in personal financial planning, spent 3 years learning the industry at MassMutual, and joined Detalus Advisors in April of 2020. Alex thrives off the interaction with his clients and takes great pride in the formation and execution of a financial game plan to help each client get the most life out of each of their dollars.
Alex is an Investment Adviser Representative, holds various insurance licenses, and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professional.
